Bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumoniaの1例

Abstract

A case of bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia (BOOP) is reported. This patient was a 25-year-old female who complained of persistent fever and cough since two weeks after delivery. Chest roentgenogram revealed patchy pulmonary infiltrates which wandered from one area to another. The cultures of sputa were negative. In spite of antibiotic administration, previous symptoms and arthralgia worsened. And the roentgenograms did not show any improvement. The histopathological findings of open lung biopsy included obstruction of the bronchiolar lumens by organization of exudates and interstitial thickening, which were compatible with those of BOOP. This case showed improvement in the symptoms and chest roentgenogram findings without prednisolone treatment. No recurrence has been observed during 24 months after remission.
