全内臓転位症における心筋の走行

Abstract

Situs inversus viscerum totalis was obsrved in a 95-year-old Japanese female at dissection in 1982. We examined the myocardium in the transposed heart, and observed that the superficial muscle bundles of the ventricles were not a mirror image of the normal, but that, on the contrary, their direction was essentially the same as that of a normal heart. In the transposed heart, the superficial muscle fibers ran spirally from base to apex in a clockwise direction. On the other hand, the deep muscle bundles of the ventricles presented the mirror image of the normal. This finding was essentially the same as that of Taussig (1926).
